What does being a Link4Growth Associate mean?
By Chris Ogle on April 23rd, 2018
People often ask, what does being a Link4Growth Associate mean? The simple answer is that you are a part owner of the Association. Everyone who has completed 14 months of continuous membership part owns it.
What does being a part owner mean? Can you vote on things? Is it worth anything? Can you sell it on?
Link4Growth is not like a regular organisation. It is not registered with companies house. It is not a charity either. It is not aligned to any religion, not funded by the government, nor is it owned by any business. It’s value isn’t governed through power and authority by votes and shares and there is no drive to build a monetary asset either… it is about saying yes to being part of creating a more inclusive and connected future that is based more on people and relationships.
So what?
To co-create a self sustaining organisation, funded by ourselves (…and not dependent on anyone else) so that we can spread the good work and continue to help knit our communities back together. It is ours. It belongs to us and it cannot be taken from us.
As an association we can trust that it will continue to exist, grow and develop and remain consistent in its purpose. It won’t suddenly deviate because someone takes control. It is one of a very few leaderless organisations that operates under a set of 7 guiding principles rather than a hierarchical power based management structure. These principles serve to guide those who are a part of it, rather than people (board of directors) judging others.
Who are the Associates?
The Associates are those who have already attained 14 months of continued engagement with Link4Growth. They are community members people like you and me, who have seen that through the environment of Link4Growth it can support their needs for connection, friendship, support, personal growth, business development and community participation.
Link4Growth is a non judgemental community of people that support each other as our own lives unfold. Life today is a complex mix of many things having a supportive group to help us discover our own way is priceless.
Chris is passionate about community and has been involved with Link4Growth and community building since the start in 2012. Chris now devotes most of his time to facilitate connection, collaboration and community in the district of South West Herts as well as supporting the Link4Growth Association.
